MEA as in Mekika’s goal is to capture the Balkan spirit. Especially Ex-Yu rock and old folk songs inspire her. Her current project is called: “Ludilo Mozga” (“Insane Brain“), which has to be heard to be understood.

Under her other pseudonym Anilem, MEA writes and composes in English and German. Her songs are influenced by Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley and enriched by elements of jazz and theater.

Melina is at the center, the link between both expressions and the person pulling the strings.
Whichever road she takes, MEA reveals humor and abstract metaphors tangled in expressive melodies.

The depth and seriousness of her words are vital, but her music should also be uplifting and enjoyable.
